Meet Our editors
Both of our founding editors go to an arts school for creative writing.
Due to their love and passion for the arts, they decided to create a magazine together on November 12th, 2024.
Editor In Chiefs (EIC’s)
Ana AHMad
Hii! My name is Ana and I’m one of the co-founding EIC’s for Yavanu Magazine, specifically for prose writing and art submissions because those are the things I enjoy creating the most! I love being Yavanu’s prose and art EIC because seeing other peoples submissions fuel my own creativity and drive me to further myself both in my own work as well as the quality Yavanu brings forward to its audience. Outside of Yavanu, I enjoy listening to indie-rock music, skateboarding, and playing guitar! I hope to bring that same creative drive to Yavanu’s readers as Yavanu releases more projects and issues!
KARMA Zalavadia
Hello!! My name is Karma and I am the other co-founding EIC for Yavanu Magazine and work specifically in poetry and photography submissions as I find myself writing poems and taking photos quite often. Being the poetry and photography EIC has really opened my eye with the constant influx of submissions in these departments as they are filled with so much creativity and soul. Besides Yavanu, I spend my time working on my own writing and exploring various types of music and film! I am so proud of Yavanu and what we have been able to accomplish, stay tuned for our future projects!
Managing editor & Communications
Webster Lin-Kissick
I’m Webster, Yavanu’s managing editor and a member of the communications department. My work offers me a chance to play a role in the magazine’s connections not only with an outside audience, but also with other creative platforms. Such interactions fuel my adoration for artists of all varieties. Stemming from my love for the arts, I often dive into worlds through books and music. The natural world too enthralls me, and is a keystone source of inspiration for my artistic endeavors and passion in conservation.
Communications department
Alannah Mccleerey
As a lover of all things arts and humanities with a goal to bring creative people together, I work as a member of the communications board for The Yavanu Magazine. I get to interact with many magazines and share a wide variety of content ranging from civics to photography on the daily. Being exposed to many ideas sparks my drive to connect others with things they love! In my free time, I debate public policy, discuss philosophy, and volunteer with my Girl Scout troop. I am extremely grateful to be a part of the Yavanu team and I hope you enjoy the magazine as much as I do!
Art department
CJ Graham
Growing up, art has always been my way of coping with the mundane. For over 8 years, I have embraced the autonomy of an artist and by working for the Yavanu magazine’s art department, i am able to teach others just how incredible the arts are. I love creating posts and analyzing famous artworks for the Yavanu magazine. Alongside Yavanu, I typically spend my free time debating across the country, creating my own personal artwork, and volunteering within my local community. No matter how skilled you are in visual arts, I wholeheartedly believe that there is a piece of your soul in every piece you create. The Yavanu team is run by astounding artists and writers who are just as passionate as I am about celebrating the community that art brings with it. With the magazine reaching over 1000 followers, we are getting even closer to establishing the community we all have dreamt of.
